They have done a tremendous amount of work to make our campus look amazing for the 2017-18 school year. These people work hard and go above and beyond to make our campus beautiful for the start of the year. We are very pleased about the wide array of courses we will be able to offer our students again this year. Students will be able to take anything from band, chorus, and construction trades to AP and Penn College courses here on the campus of Bucktail Area High School. With the wonderful guidance of Bobbie Jo Simcox and Gwen Bechdel, we are excited to have the “Bucktail Youth Leadership” program back for the 2017-2018 school year. We will have approximately 8 sophomores participating in our program this year! These students will work to develop public speaking skills, service skills, and experience first hand how our community works together through various agencies, businesses, and organizations. At the conclusion of the '16-17 school year, the junior class (18’) and staff at Bucktail Area High School voted on Miss Bucktail, Miss Laurel Representative, and 4 hostesses for the 2017 Flaming Foliage Festival. There are clear guidelines and high expectations for students desiring to be Miss Bucktail. Students inter- ested in representing Bucktail had to speak in front of their peers and staff and explain why they were the best candidate for Miss Bucktail. This year we are proud to announce the following participants: MISS BUCKTAIL: Anna Cowfer MISS LAUREL REP: Maria D’onofrio HOSTESSES: Katelyn Pick, Braley Foley, Taylor Werts, Makenzi Brennan This year, the homecoming court will be established in the fall. We will have a “spirit week” that will be kicked off on a Friday at the school during an assembly. This is when students interested in being on the homecoming court will present themselves before the student-body and staff and explain as to why they should be on homecoming court. The students will vote at the conclusion of the pep-assembly and the court will be announced the next night at our homecoming dance.
