Patrick Wray www.patrickwray.com I make one off pictures and occasionally expand these into narratives by turning them into comics. I make drawings in bright colours often using felt tips and occasionally biros. My choice of tools is probably a pragmatism born out of being a product of various underfunded art departments causing me to a adopt a punk DIY ethos and aesthetic. Another reason is I like to work quite quickly in a spontaneous manner and so the most accessible , readily available tools are what I am drawn to. My work is made of oblique observational, humorous in tone pictures. A mix of pop art and surrealism; part Lichtenstein, part Shrigley. I originally studied on an art foundation in the North of England where I grew up, before moving to study at Dartington College of Art which added an experimental element to my work. As well as drawings I have also recorded a a large amount of home made experimental pop music and recently had a musical I composed for radio broadcast on resonance fm.
