UTTAM SINGH MUNDY
Greetings and best wishes from the entire team of PGTI.
The month of April brought more good news for Indian golf as Rahil
Gangjee broke his 14-year-long title drought on the international stage
with victory at the Panasonic Open Golf Championship in Japan. On
the other hand, Shiv Kapur bagged top honours in the Panasonic Swing
series to earn himself a bonus prize and an exemption into an event on the
European Tour this year.
Rahil Gangjee’s memorable triumph in Osaka made him only the third
Indian to win on the Japan Golf Tour after Jyoti Randhawa and Jeev
Milkha Singh. Gangjee now leads the Japan Golf Tour’s money list and
is placed third on the Asian Tour rankings.
We congratulate Rahil on the biggest victory of his career which bears
testament to his perseverance and never-say-die attitude. His success is
yet another indicator of the giant strides being taken by Indian golf on
the global stage.
On the PGTI, we further consolidated the ¿ rst half of the season by
launching a new event, the Delhi - NCR Open, and welcoming two new
Presenting Partners, Kolte - Patil Developers and Paramount GolfForeste,
for the third edition of the Pune Open and the inaugural Delhi - NCR
Open respectively.
Honey Baisoya dominated this stretch of the season by winning both the
Kolte - Patil presents Pune Open and the Paramount GolfForeste Delhi
- NCR Open played at Noida, by handsome margins. Baisoya, a winner
of six titles over the last 18 months, has now emerged as the 2018 PGTI
Order of Merit leader. In current form, he will be hard to dislodge from
the top of the money list.
The PGTI announced the return of its Feeder Tour after a four-year gap.
The 2018 PGTI Feeder Tour season will feature six events with a prize
purse of Rs. 8 lakh each. The 2018 season thus witnesses an increase
of Rs. 12 lakh (33%) in the combined prize purse as compared to the
previous season. The events will be played between May and July in
Delhi, Faridabad, Karnal, Jaipur and Lucknow.
We are con¿ dent that the revival of the PGTI Feeder Tour will play a
role in further strengthening the foundations of professional golf in India.
Best Wishes &
Happy Gol¿ ng
