the core point of me shifting to Ludhiana
for the development of the game in the
city.
GP: What technologies of golf
do you take into consideration while
teaching golf?
JV: I am not much of technology
guy when it comes to my game. This
may sound “old school” but yes I do not
appreciate it if I have to use it. My focus
stays on imparting a sense of feelings
among the people who sign under me. I
tried setting up an indoor golf camp for
children of schools, but later felt that the
main gist of the game will be lost if I play
it within the 4 walls. I do have all the
supplies to start of immediate but that will
loosen the natures connect, no distractions
and clean fresh air.
GP: Which is the favourite lesson
you like to coach?
JV: All lessons I teach are favourite
to me but skills are the key source to
mastering the game. Good driver lesson
tops my list. Basic is that a good driver
needs to be a short driver too because you
don’t hit fairways and green revolution.
Every time iron hits the ball. So a short
drive is a must to know for you.
GP: What is your philosophy of
coaching?
JV: Keep it Simple!
GP: What is one peak event that
changed your life in a positive or
negative way for golf?
JV: It was the peak of my career as a
musician that changed my life. I did lots
of shows, recordings, etc. It was that time
my dad introduced me to the game. Golf
really intrigued me. I became amusement
for the Golfers who already were there
on the ¿ elds. Being new to the game
people really had a great time smirking
on me, “Rockstar has its perks too! But
the moment I played with iron to hit the
ball, they would go, ok he can play”.
There was a man in my life that changed
my life and the result was so affecting
that he convinced me hard to become a
Golf Professional. No doubt I had the
personality of a Golfer. Maybe this was
the reason I joined PGTI. Within a year
I got my class A. Well I call it a memory
worth remembering!
GP: Whom do you look up to?
JV: I am at an age when people have
started looking upon me so practically
not many people I look upon too, but I
have really high regards for chairman
of Imperial Golf Estate Ludhiana. I
appreciate people who take the whole
opportunity and do whatever they can for
their goals.
