3rd FICCI Golf Tour 5th May 2018 Chandigarh Golf Club
ICCI Chandigarh Regional Council organized the 3rd FICCI Golf Tour at the Chandigarh Golf Club on 5th May 2018 to promote golf in the region . This was the third edition of this Initiative started in 2015 . The event saw the participation of Industry leaders , Head of foreign missions in India , senior diplomats , Government officials , hospitality and tour operators . The event sponsored by The Trident Group and co-partnered by the High Commission of Malaysia in India . The organising partner was the Alumni association , Post Graduate Government College , Chandigarh . Chandigarh Golf Association and the Indian Golf Tourism Association were the supporting organizations with GolfPlus Monthly as the official media partner . While Chandigarh Golf Club was the host club other sponsors included Air Vistara , Kingfisher Premium and Ballantine ’ s . Mr . Rajinder Gupta , Regional Chairman , Federation of Indian chambers of Commerce and Industry ( FICCI ) and Chairman Trident Group while welcoming the dignitaries and players emphasized that the region offered huge potential for golf enthusiasts , hospitality and tourism industry .
Speaking on the occasion Mr G B Singh , Regional head FICCI said ‘ FICCI is fully devoted to promote tourism in the neighbouring states of Haryana and Himachal Pradesh ’ The event was attended by H . E . Dato Paduka Sidek Ali , High Commissioner of Brunei , H . E . Dato Hidayat Abdul Hamid , High Commissioner of Malaysia , H . E . Ton Sinh Tanh , Ambassador of Vietnam , Justice Sandhawalia , Justice Anupinder Grewal , Justice Amit Rawal , Justice Mahesh Grover amongst other guests . The event was also graced by Mr . Karan Avtar Singh & Mr . Milkha Singh .
The event saw camaraderie and competitive spirit coming alive on the golf course with the players vying for the top honors . The players after registration and breakfast teed off to a shotgun start . The format of the game was double Peoria with prizes for overall and on course categories . The event concluded with a prize distribution lunch at the Clubhouse .
The idea behind the event ?
3 years back we initiated the whole idea about promoting tourism through golf in the region . So , that ’ s where we approached ministry of tourism and they were our partners 2 years back . So that ’ s where the whole idea was to promote tourism through golf . Chandigarh is kind of a regional capital so all the states Punjab , Haryana , Himanchal and even J & K that ’ s where the tourism is getting promoted through golf . Being in the Industry chamber so our main stake holders the industry is always a key participant . So , the diplomats from various countries For example we got participation from 4 missions this year . Malaysia is our official country partner , then we have got High commissioner of Vietnam , Brunei and we have also got a representative from Australian High commission . So it ’ s a nice mix wherein we sudden good pun game and good networking point and alongside the tourism is getting promoted .

The experience of the players
It has been very overwhelming . In the three years the number of participants , the number of players have been increasing . We have been trying to somehow control as per the requirements of the course but then we are not able to , Its huge . We are getting requests from all corners to play so its reached that level where people look forward to play at the FICCI Golf Tour . We will continue to promote tourism through golf . But the idea is to take it to different destinations . We plan to take it to Shimla and more plans for J & K also .

A wonderful pleasant experience .
