At the MAC 2017
The 115th Malaysian Amateur
championship was held at Nexus golf
resort, Karibunai, Sabah, Malaysia
from 16 th to 20th May, 2017. It is
one of the most prestigious events
held in South East Asia. The fi eld
was pretty strong this time, as there
were players from most of the Asian
countries and even from U.S.A and
Australia. Nexus golf course was a
very challenging and beautiful golf
course with lot of water bodies,
bunkers and fi rm greens. Placing
the drives in the fairways was very
important. It was a very important
week for me as I could get a lot of
world ranking points. Even though I
played my third round in the leader

group and the end of the day I slipped
to ninth position at the end of the
day with the score of 71, 70, and
77. Beginning my 4th round in the
third leader group, it was not easy for
me to jump to the top three, but my
bogey free round of 67, with birdies
on the 4th, 6th,7th & 13th helped me
secure the third place. I submitted a
card of 71, 70, 77 and 67. This was
my fi rst top 3 fi nishes outside India.
As a team, Sunhit & I fi nished 4th
out of the 10 countries participating
in the team event. Thailand came fi rst
followed by Singapore & Taiwan.
Sadom Kaewkanjana from Thailand
won the tournament in a playoff with
a score of 70,70,69,70.
