UTTAM SINGH MUNDY
Greetings and best wishes from the entire team of PGTI .
As we reach the halfway mark of the year , it would be fair to say that Indian professionals have registered some impressive performances on the international tours so far this season and the signs are quite encouraging for the latter half of the season .
Shubhankar Sharma sparkled with his win at the Maybank Championship early in the year . He now has the opportunity to make a further impact at the highest level with good performances at the year ’ s last two Majors . The Asian Tour Order of Merit title will also be on Shubhankar ’ s radar this year .
Rahil Gangjee was the other title winner for India in 2018 . After breaking a 14-year victory drought , his season too looks promising as he is now plying his trade on the Japan Golf Tour and Asian Tour .
Anirban Lahiri , with three top-10s this season , is getting better with each passing event on the PGA Tour . Lahiri now has a good chance of recording his career-best ranking in the FedExCup by improving on last year ’ s 51st place .
Gaganjeet Bhullar ’ s two runner-up nishes in Asia augur well for the remainder of his season . He is on the cusp of setting an Indian record of nine Asian Tour titles .
The PGTI Feeder Tour saw the emergence of two new winners in the form of Ashbeer Saini and Arjun Sharma in the third and fourth events of the season staged in Karnal and Jaipur respectively .
Ashbeer and Arjun gave their careers a new lease of life with their maiden victories and as a result entered the fray in the race for the Feeder Tour Order of Merit title .
The last two events of the season in Lucknow could witness the race for the top position in the Feeder Tour money list going down to the wire as there are many claimants to the title in what has been a highly competitive season .
The PGTI mourned the passing away of golng legend Peter Thomson . Thomson has a special place in Indian golng history as he played a key role in establishing the Indian Open . His passing away is a huge loss to the sport of golf .
Best Wishes & Happy Golng
