From the Author :
“ I love to collect information . I have trunk loads of it ! Five decades of my association with the club has given me the opportunity to access old records and memorabilia . The Lodhi and the Peacock , a coffee table book on the history of the club , was the outcome . I also like interacting with people ; golf journalism enabled me to interview and observe members - among them are
some eminent personalities ! I wanted to do a book which , while capturing some of their mannerisms ; would also give little known facts about them , in addition to information on their achievements . The caricature / illustration format is chosen to make the book unique ! Fun is the idea , not distortion ! The faces have been kept near – normal , the situation unusual and funny . In a few cases , why a certain situation has been chosen is also reasoned out . In the case of some revered icons , the images are left natural . As a part time doodler and scribbler , I have myself indulged in sketching and cartooning ; on a couple of occasions my caricatures were featured in contests during the 1990s . For this book , however , given my limited skill , I could not risk this indulgence . Ramen Sarkar , an experienced professional , was commissioned to convert my ideas into illustrations / caricatures !”
