Several business leaders and corporate houses have been generous in their support for Isha Vidhya through the Golf Jaunt. The education system in rural India needs urgent transformation and they are only too happy to support efforts like Isha Vidhya. They are encouraged by the effort and the results. With over 75% of IndiaÊs population living in villages, quality education is the only way to develop a better equipped workforce that can compete in the global market. The importance of good foundational education cannot be overstressed. Back on the greens, the mood is infectious. The cause may be serious, but no harm in having fun addressing it. Especially if youÊre around someone who is a strong advocate of joyfulness. SadhguruÊs endeavor is to hit a ball with every participant and needless to say, the participants were overjoyed. Isha Vidhya Isha Vidhya, a not for profit education initiative, works for the economic and social empowerment of rural children in the villages across southern state of Tamil Nadu, India. Through this effort, the foundation is committed to raising the level of education and literacy in rural India and to helping disadvantaged children realize their full potential. The foundation, through its Isha Vidhya schools, offers a nurturing approach to education in villages. Isha Vidhya has been an active supporter of promoting education among female children in the villages and all our schools have seen an increased enrollment of girl children. Isha Vidhya currently runs 10 schools and this has had a great impact in the lives of villages in the surrounding locality. The schools presently cater to more than 8523 students from nearby villages, with approximately 60% of students on free education through donations from our scholarship program.
