UTTAM SINGH MUNDY
Greetings and best wishes from the entire team of PGTI .
We are pleased to announce that the PGTI has taken a giant leap in its pursuit of ‘ Taking Indian Golf Global ’ as the tour has now been approved for inclusion into the Ofcial World Golf Ranking ( OWGR ) system . PGTI events will now carry world ranking points from the 2019 season onward .
PGTI ’ s sustained growth since its inception 12 years ago , its emergence as the premier tour of the South Asian region and the several accomplishments of our professionals on the global stage have all contributed to the tour ’ s elevation to OWGR status .
Our focused efforts towards aligning ourselves with the OWGR system over the last few years included the all-important decision of making the PGTI an ‘ Open Tour ’ from 2018 onward . Our persistence towards the cause has nally borne fruit .
The tour is now set to become more competitive than ever before as world ranking points will ensure better elds at all events and also attract quality international talent and more sponsors .
Shubhankar Sharma continued his upward graph with an impressive debut at The Open , his third career Major . Shubhankar , playing his third Major of 2018 , nished a creditable tied 51st that saw him become the youngest Indian to make the cut at a Major as he accomplished the feat on the eve of his 22nd birthday .
The 2018 PGTI Feeder Tour season culminated with the last two events staged in Lucknow . While young Chandarjeet Yadav joined the winner ’ s circle with victory in the rst event , the experienced Rajesh Kumar Rawat bagged his second career title in the second event .
It was a highly competitive season that saw ve winners . Four among these ve players were rst time winners which once again proves the importance of the Feeder Tour as an efcient supply line of talent for the PGTI .
Pawan Verma , who posted four top-10s in the season including two runnerup nishes , earned a just reward for his consistency by emerging as the 2018 PGTI Feeder Tour Order of Merit champion . In the process , he also bagged an exemption for the 2019 PGTI season ( Main Tour ).
Best Wishes & Happy Golng
