GP: When did you start playing junior golf tournaments?
HB: My first tournament was the IGU Northern India Ladies and
Junior Golf Championship in September 2012.
GP: What prompted you to take up sport of golf?
HB: My initiation was by my grandfather, Col. AK Bakshi (Retd.) who
was a keen golfer with a scratch handicap. I then continued under the
mentorship of Col. Kharab (Retd.), a colleague of my grandfather. We
approached Mr. Anitya Chand, Head Coach, DLF, for coaching, who
took me under his wings and continues to be my coach, philosopher
and guide since then.
GP: How do you manage to juggle your time between golf and
studies?
HB: I credit my mother for time management. The Principal of my
school, APS Dhaula Kuan, was kind to allow me freedom to pursue
my passion. I practiced for six to seven hours after school before
returning home. I studied for about one or two hours every day after
practice.
GP: What would be your advice to budding golfers and their
parents?
HB: Work hard and enjoy this beautiful game. One needs dedication,
hard work, perseverance and the right guidance. For parents I would
say ÂSupport the SportÊ.
