AUSTRALIAN GOLF MEDIA ASSOCIATION ADMITS FIRST MEMBER UNDER NEW NAME

GOLF INDUSTRY CENTRAL WRITER MATHILDA ANDERSSON HAS BECOME THE FIRST AFFILIATED MEMBER OF THE AUSTRALIAN GOLF MEDIA ASSOCIATION ( AGMA ) UNDER ITS NEW NAME . AGMA IS FORMER AUSTRALIAN GOLF WRITERS ASSOCIATION ( AGWA ) AS OF 1 MARCH .
The AGWA was formed in 1976 by a group of golf writers who were mainly covering golf tournaments for their respective newspapers to work with promoters , sponsors and administrators to see that the interests and conditions of the writers were looked after .
The first President was Don Lawrence and Captain Tom Ramsey . Over the years most golf writers in Australia and regular overseas visitors have belonged to the association but in recent years with the introduction of electronic media , it was decided by the members that changes should be made to encompass the broader reporting of the golf industry and those who work in it .
The AGMA was created in effort to modernise the association and encapsulate the various forms of golf media that is now out their be it print , digital or other mediums . The association works to ensure that its members are working in a proper environment in golf media centres throughout Australasia , and advices promoters , organisers and golf clubs of standard working conditions for efficient media coverage of event .
The association also works towards enhancing the general interest of members of the golf media , and to maintain business relationships with governing bodies , promoters and sponsors of the game of golf .
Affiliated members of the association are involved in the media and the game of golf , and are required to be nominated and seconded by two or more Ordinary or Honorary Life-Members of the association .
Congratulations Mathilda !
