Pansy picked up Terry’s scent, wagged her tail
and led them toward the far corner of the yard.
But when Oliver spotted a rabbit lurking behind
a bush, he got suspicious and shouted, “Stop Pansy!”
The dog looked back at the hedgehog and asked,
“Why did you stop me, Oliver? I was on the trail.”
“You silly dog!” Oliver replied angrily. “You
followed the scent of that rabbit.”
Pansy felt guilty and foolish. She said, “Sorry! I
got distracted because that rabbit smells so
delicious. I’ll do better next time, promise!”
“Okay,” Terry said to the upset dog. “Smell my
hand and try to follow my scent this time.”
