“We’ll help you. Tell us what to do,” Nikki told Wishbone.
“Oh, thank you!” he said. “Okay. You just have to hold the
stone out in front of you and say these magic words: Snappy
fingers, cracking bones.”
Jack gave Nikki a skeptical look, but then shrugged his
shoulders. If a wind chime can talk, then I guess some dumb
magic words can work, too, he thought.
Nikki picked up the shiny blue stone, held out her hand and
recited, “Snappy fingers, cracking bones!”
Suddenly she and Jack heard the snap and crackle of static
electricity and a strange humming noise. Then, a few feet from
them, a vortex opened up… a gateway shaped like a wheel of
swirling light set inside a shimmering blue doorway.
“Now what?” Nikki asked.
“Just walk through it as if you’re walking into another room,”
Wishbone replied.
