A short story:
Nancy arrives home from a long day
at work. She kicks off her high heels
and walks into the kitchen. Bruce
lights the candles on the dinner table
and embraces her in a warm hug. Her
two girls, ages five and six, are
running from the playroom to greet
her. Their handsome seventeen-year-
old boy looks up from his computer
and smiles at her.

A short snippet from the story
Nancy wanted to bury the bad memories and didn’t want to listen to
anyone’s advice when Bruce proposed, and they eloped. They were
happy, at least Nancy was.
Bruce was between jobs; he said his main priority was to take good care
of Nancy. She gave him access to her bank account, and he began
shopping. Big screen TV, Play Station, smartphone: he bought all the
gadgets he wanted. In return, he waited for her with a delicious dinner
every night. He cooked all the Italian dishes he learned from his mother
and learned to cook Nancy’s favorite foods.
He was attentive in the bedroom and was always ready to satisfy her
needs. She was happy, although in the back of her mind she had
doubts, she tried to ignore them. She got pregnant within months. She
was elated. Finally, she could have the wonderful husband and family
she always wanted.
