Molly lived in her comfortable home in a small American
town with her cat, Miau. When Molly’s friend, Mrs. Santos,
moved to a nursing home, she was sad and didn’t know what to
do. The home didn’t allow animals, and she didn’t want her
parrot, her longtime companion, to end up in the animal shelter.
She asked her family, friends and neighbors to adopt Pico, but
sadly, nobody wanted the noisy bird.
Although Molly knew what an annoying loudmouth Pico was,
she adopted the bird because she loved her friend and she knew
how sad it would make her if her parrot didn’t have a good home.
After a while, Molly got used to Pico’s constant chatter, and
she started talking to the bird, “What are we going to have, for
dinner, Pico” Molly asked.
Molly knew that Pico didn’t understand her, but when Pico
answered, it sounded as though they were having a conversation.
“Ccrenna, ccrenna, ccrenna.” The bird replied.
“I wish you could talk instead of just making this gibberish
noise,” Molly said to the colorful bird.
