I wrote this story about this picture: The albino zebra, Whitecoat, had been born without black stripes. The other animals made fun of him and their constant teasing made him sad. One day he saw Tommy and Charlotte painting colorful pictures in the garden. Whitecoat asked them, “Could you paint my coat, too?” “Yes, we can,” Tommy said. The children brought large cans of paint and brushes from the garage and started painting the zebra’s coat. “Tommy!” Charlotte cried out when she saw that Tommy used vibrant red, yellow, green, and blue paint to color the zebra’s coat. “You made him look like a rainbow! Zebras have black and white stripes and not rainbow color stripes.” “Oh,” Tommy replied. “I was so busy staying inside the lines with my brush that I forgot. Sorry, Mr. Whitecoat.” He apologized to the zebra. “It’s okay, “Whitecoat said. “I kinda like it that you made me look different than other zebras.” 6
