way of an appalling audition for radio drama – she ’ d written her own material and was told to go home and write . To date she has published 7 books in 3 genres – she had no idea most writers stick to one genre but 30 years writing for radio , television and all kinds of media taught her you should be able to write about , and for , everything .
Amie African Adventure is based a little on the author ’ s own experience leaving her home country to go and live in Africa . Not long after settling in Amie comes to the unwelcome attention of an army colonel and coerced into filming scenes she would rather not see . Then civil war breaks out , she misses the last plane out , she is captured and thrown into prison . Her nightmare has only just begun .
Review quotes : “ Lucinda Clarke is such a great storyteller and I was instantly drawn into the story of Amie who ends up in Africa because of her husband . I love the African setting and the author does such a good job of describing the surroundings that you feel as if you are out in Africa . Amie : African Adventure is a great read and I highly recommend it .”
“ The author ’ s knowledge of Africa is clearly depicted in this novel . I loved reading and learning about the African culture . It is rare for me to so completely identify with a character in a book as to truly feel as if I am living out the story in her shoes , but that ' s how I felt following Amie ' s story . All the way along I kept thinking , what would I do if I was her ? How would I cope with her situation ? I adored this book , and hope Lucinda is encouraged by the positive reception it has received to bring us more of Amie ' s adventures .”
