Pico was always under foot or perching on furniture, and he screeched and shrieked day in and day out. Molly became used to the noisy bird and rather liked it that he “talked” all the time because before the loud bird came to live with her, her home was very quiet. One day, Molly’s niece surprised her with a two week Hawaiian vacation. “Oh, it’s so nice of you. Thank you very much. I’ve never been to Hawaii, but I saw it on TV. It is a very beautiful place.” “You’re welcome,” her niece replied with a happy smile. “But what are you going to do with Pico and Miau? Sorry, but I can’t take them,” She said, feeling concerned. The happy smile froze on Molly’s face. “I don’t know, but I will think of something.” Molly called her relatives and friends, but everyone said they were busy and couldn’t take care of the cat and the bird. ”What are we going to do Pico?” she asked her parrot. “I can’t take you and Miau with me.” “Quue, quue, quue, quue,” Pico answered in his cackling voice and wobbled away. 48
