Asthma Symptoms
Wheezing
Wheezing is a high-pitched whistling sound, especially in children,
and is a common symptom of asthma. However, some people with
asthma do not wheeze at all. People may also wheeze if they have a
cold or respiratory infection, even if they don't have asthma.
Coughing
A hacking cough that might not go away and often occurs or worsens
at night.
Chest tightness
A feeling as if a rope is being pulled tighter and tighter around your
chest.
Shortness of breath
A feeling as if you're trying to breathe through a straw and can't pull
enough air in. Breathing out is even harder than breathing in.
Trouble sleeping caused by shortness of breath, coughing, or
wheezing.
Bouts of coughing or wheezing that are worsened by respiratory
virus infections such as the common cold or the flu.
