Why did you choose it as your debut single? I wanted to pick a song that connects with a lot of people and has a strong message. I felt like “Anchor" is something a lot of people can relate to in different ways.

You don’t usually hear about inspiration being taken from airports but that’s actually a really good place to draw from! What about airports inspires you to write? I just love making up stories. There is so much emotion in the airport and so much to imagine from it. You see it being acted out (people saying goodbye, etc.) and you can just kind of make up these stories to go along with it.

What other places are you inspired by? I get really inspired in the rain. Just listening and seeing rain fall inspires me.

What do you want people to take away when they listen to or watch “Anchor?" I want them to feel empowered after listening to it. I want them to feel good and feel like they are capable of anything, because they are:)

What does the "blast of paint" represent in the video? Emotions. I wanted it to symbolize every feeling you ever have hitting you at once and creating this beautiful, crazy mess that covers you. Feelings make up who we are. How we feel represents so much.

How was it to do the water scenes? SOOOO cool. I had never seen anything like it. I scuba dived with 3 other guys while the crew was outside the water. It took 6 hours and was so tiring because I'm not the best swimmer...lol. But, those shots were my favorite.

I have every song off the EP on repeat. It’s amazing. What was the inspiration for it? Thank you so much! Honestly the inspiration I had was just from the process of growing up and everything you experience and feel during that time.

What is your favorite song off the EP and why? I love all of them but “Surrender” was the most fun to make. It was really out of my comfort zone which is what made it fun.

Do you plan on going on tour with this EP and if so, what would fans expect from a Caliee Rae tour? I really hope so. I want to meet all of my CaiBaes, and I love performing.

Do you tend to overthink things? YES. All of the time.

Why do you think people second guess themselves and overthink things so much? Because we are human. It's so natural to want what’s best. A lot of times we just don't know what we want so we bobble back and forth. Everything happens for a reason.

What advice would you give to a new musician who wants to do what you do? Go for it. Love what you do and dream big. If you do both of those and work hard, you can do anything.

Why I Think Caliee is Amazing:

After listening to and talking with Caliee, I find that she is a force to be reckoned with. Her voice has soul in it that goes great with any genre of music much like the queen of pop Ariana Grande. Caliee has a unique sound that the radio waves need right now. She has such a vibrant personality and look. Her whole entire EP is a masterpiece within itself for a debut. Every song on "Overthinking" seems written especially for the person listening. It seems as though a lot of work, dedication and experiences brought Caliee to write this magnificent EP. The EP makes you want more from her. It seems as though having it on repeat is not enough for us listeners. After one listen, you instantly want an album worth. The emotions in her voice on such songs such as ,Anchor or Started is so powerful that it gives you feels and chills. Even though this is just a debut, I feel as though Caliee will be here for a very long time and that Billboard #1 spot better be ready for a new comer. She is so much more than just one of Instagram's Greatest Musicians. She is Caliee Rae.
