Be prepared for
anything that comes
your way with these
tips and tricks!
— BY LINDSAY SHAPKA
Before You Leave
Leave your blinds and curtains exactly as
you would keep them if you were at home.
Noticeable changes could hint that you are
not around anymore.
The same goes for your lights. Leaving a
light on the entire time you are gone will
signal that you are not home. If you are
worried about security, you can always put
your lights on a timer.
Unplug toasters, computers, and other
appliances to protect them from power
surges.
That plastic rock isn’t fooling anyone!
Remove your spare key from its hiding spot
while you are away.
Make sure all of your doors and windows
are closed and locked (don’t forget the
doggie door!).
Store all valuables in a safe place.
Make sure one of
your passengers has
a spare key in their pocket
at all times. That way, if you
lock your keys in the car or
lose them you don’t have to
wait around for help to get inside and
continue on your trip!
