As a result, she said, “I dragged my
daughter everywhere. I still do. She’s
a part of the community. Everybody
knows Taylor in town.”
She also found support through an
organization called Parents Helping
Parents. “This is the single most
important agency that any family could
benefit from. They have referral services,
resources, support and knowledge.”
“Support is one of the most crucial
steps a family can take when a child
has special needs,” Carr said.
Today, Taylor lives a good life with
the help of caregivers, as well as her
family. Carr said that while she has
her moments of mourning, they’re less
frequent. “What emerges is that you
get to know this person, you adore this
person, and understand and grow with
this person.”
