INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL
April 3 rd -7 th brought another year of films and filmmakers
to the Communities of Morgan Hill, San Martin and Gilroy.
The Poppy Jasper International Film Festival built on last
year’s success with 105 films from 28 different countries
over 5 days of screenings at the Morgan Hill Playhouse
and Capos in Gilroy. The festival attracted a record number
of filmmakers from around the world including filmmakers
from eight different countries. Gilroy native and Paramount
President of Motion Picture Music, Randy Spendlove, came
back with a band of some well-known Bay Area rockers
including Grammy award winning bassist Polo Jones and
played at the Opening Gala Friday night at the Granada
Theatre in Morgan Hill. This year the festival also brought
over 16 Industry professionals including locals Doeri
Welch, Director of Recruitment for DreamWorks Animation
and Emmy nominated writer Kevin Rubio. Three panel
discussions including a Women’s Panel, Distribution Panel
and an Industry Panel were well attended. Golden State
Brewery held the Music Video and Live Band event with
four bands including Reggae artist Jordan T, Polo Jones,
