City Beat New Online Platform to Connect with Residents Launched Gilroy 2040 General Plan Interested in the plan for Gilroy’s future growth? The “Gilroy 2040 General Plan” page includes the latest information on the Gilroy 2040 General Plan process. The General Plan, which is currently under development, will be the blueprint for growth in Gilroy from now until the year 2040. We encourage residents to visit this page in the near future and provide their input on future growth in Gilroy. High Speed Rail Want to stay up to date on plans for High Speed Rail in Gilroy? The “High Speed Rail” page includes the latest information on the alignment for High Speed Rail in Gilroy and links to current information on California High Speed Rail as a whole including the California High Speed Rail Authority Facebook feed. Explore Community Projects Wondering what that construction project is on the other side of town? The “Explore Community Projects” page includes an interactive map using a Google map interface, with information on a variety of construction and development projects around town. Residents can explore development projects in Gilroy and can click on the map icons to be directed to project pages with additional information. Samplings of the projects included on the map are the Glen Loma Ranch Development Project, Golden State Brewery Restaurant, and the Hecker Pass Specifi c Plan. On a scale from novice to guru, how ready are you? The “Are You Ready?” page includes a quick quiz to help residents assess if they are ready for a disaster, the opportunity for residents to share what they are doing to prepare for emergency situations and links to important information to help residents plan ahead and prepare. JUNE/JULY 2018 gmhtoday.com T he City of Gilroy’s expanding communication strategy now includes a new online platform called “Your Voice,” designed specifi cally for engaging with residents regarding City projects. Through “Your Voice” residents can fi nd information on projects, ask questions and provide feedback from the comfort of home through a computer or mobile device. The City hopes that this new platform will enable more residents to connect with the City in more meaningful ways than before possible through customary communication methods. As an added feature, Spanish translation is available throughout the site to provide Latino, Spanish-speaking residents the ability to connect and stay informed at a higher level than previously available. This new visual platform is accessible through the home- page on the City of Gilroy website or through the web address: yourvoice.cityofgilroy.org. Once there, residents can explore information on a variety of topics by clicking through the various project tiles. The site also includes registration, though not required for viewing projects, is required for asking questions, participating in forums or signing up to stay informed on specific topics. The projects included on “Your Voice” are chosen and deter- mined based upon current planning, construction, development and events pertaining to the City. These projects will be updated frequently with projects being closed out and new projects being added as needed. Current projects on “Your Voice” include:
