The first “Trash Bash” event took place in November 2017 with 75 volunteers, residents and business owners from throughout South County who divided into 10 teams and donned gloves, orange vests, and litter bags to pick up discarded items ranging from food and beverage wrappers to old clothing and car parts. In partnership with the County, GreenWaste donated its services to collect and dispose of all the trash gathered by the volunteers. A second Trash Bash event took place in March, 2018. Event partners included the San Martin Neighborhood Alliance, the newly-formed San Martin Chamber of Commerce, GreenWaste Recovery, the Santa Clara Valley Water District and my office. Earlier this year, I presented Commendations from the Santa Clara County Board of Supervisors to thank each of the organizations and their volunteers for partnering with my office on the Trash Bash.
