offices in downtown
Morgan Hill is that of the city’s chamber
of commerce. The Chamber’s roots date
back to 1958 but it was incorporated in
the early 1960s. Today, its more than 530
members are served by a three-person
staff of community-minded folks under
the leadership of President and CEO
John Horner.

Horner’s background makes him
well-suited for his role. He earned an
engineering degree and forged a high
tech career before moving to Morgan Hill
and venturing into retail as the owner of
Thinker Toys. He’s passionate about edu-
cation and job creation, and he’s known
around town as a good-natured guy.
According to Horner, “When I came
on board in 2013, the City of Morgan

Hill was providing us with funds to
serve as a tourism and visitor’s service.
Local merchants and community service
groups thought the Chamber should be
independent and self-funded, and so
that’s what we did.”
