not been, the Milias’ regular menu is
always great but the specials menu has
some exceptional and often limited
time dishes. Three of us ordered from
the specials menu. Michelle tried the
Grilled Alaskan Sanddabs. John opted
for the Fresh Wild Halibut Cheeks
(With Quinoa Rice Pilaf, Baby Carrots
& Asparagus). I selected the Airline
Breast of Pheasant (With Creamed
Spinach & Butternut Squash Risotto).
J.Chris ordered her favorite from the
regular menu, the Grilled Salmon (With
a Fresh Crab Sauce). Three of us started
with a small crispy salad and J. Chris
had the Potato Leek Soup which she
said was light and tasty.
Michelle’s Sanddabs were accompa-
nied by a generous portion of polenta.
The sanddabs themselves were much
larger than the Monterey Bay variety.
Michelle declared them “absolutely
delicious.” John’s Halibut Cheeks were
beefy and had a “mild, wild” fl avor with
a unique texture. John wanted to know
when they would be on the menu again!
He also had a glass of Sarah’s Vineyard
2013 Syrah with his meal. My pheasant
was excellent. It had just enough game-
ness to set it apart and give you that
feeling that you are having something
much more fl avorful than say chicken.
The Squash Risotto offered a sweet
touch that was a great compliment to
the pheasant. J.Chris said her salmon
was excellent, as always.
By this time, we were really full —
but we had to indulge in the Churro
Caramel Cheesecake. The large serving
was absolutely delicious but a little
much after our abundant dinner. We
totally enjoyed the evening— the
food, the wine, the ambiance, the great
conversation, and the music by The Trio
coupled with the friendly welcome and
conversations with owners, Sanchez
and Zybarra and our congenial waitress,
Cindy made for a perfect evening.
We strongly encourage readers to
enjoy the regular menu and if you are
game for something more unique try
the special’s menu. If you are really
adventurous, get on their mailing list for
the occasional Monday night special—
they are really fun and unique. J. Chris
attended the Girls Only Night, we both
attended the Baseball Night where we
were served shrimp on a stick instead of
a corn dog and foie gras dog instead of a
hot dog!
