GMB supports youth boxing
club in Northern Ireland
GMB North West and Irish Region has
donated £1,000 to help the Spartans
Boxing Club in Ballyclare, Northern Ireland,
refurbish its boxing ring.
The club plays an important role in the
local community, helping keep youngsters
off the streets and giving them a focus in
life. As well as fitness, the club has a social
side too, with families of the young boxers
meeting up there.

Thompson, a professional boxer from
Ballyclare. Over the years, the club has
raised money for Tinylife, Children’s
Heartbeat Trust, the Ross Paterson appeal,
and most recently the Jonjo Bright Trust,
for a young jockey who was paralysed in
a horseriding accident. The club has raised
over £30,000 for these charities.
