I f you ’ ve always wanted to improve your qualifications and skills , now ’ s the time ! GMB Birmingham and West Midlands Region is offering all members the opportunity to further their education by taking advantage of 24 different courses – for free !
All the distance learning courses below are nationally recognised Level 2 qualifications equivalent to an A-C grade GCSE , accredited by NCFE and Innovate Awarding .
Here ’ s the full list of courses you could look to take through GMB :
ONLINE
• Certificate in IT User Skills ( ITQ ) Level 2
• Certificate in Principles of Business & Administration Level 2
• Certificate in Equality & Diversity Level 2
• Certificate in Principles of Customer Service Level 2
• Certificate in Lean Organisation Management Techniques Level 2
• At present all courses are fully funded . However , the following restrictions apply : you must be 19 years of age as of 31 August 2015 ; have lived in the EU for the past three years , and currently reside in England .
• All courses are 16-20 weeks in duration , based on 8-10 hours of learning per week .
• Learners will be allocated to a tutor at the start of the course who can be contacted at any point for support throughout their learning .

• Certificate in the Awareness of Mental Health Problems Level 2
• Certificate in the Principles of End of Life Care Level 2
• Certificate in Principles of the Prevention & Control of Infection in Health Care Settings Level 2

Here ’ s everything you need to know ...
• Learning materials will be issued to all learners once the enrolment has been completed and will include the following : individual learning plan , workbooks , assessment booklets , Freepost envelopes for retuning work , useful assessment tips , college handbook and perception survey .
• Tutors will provide written feedback for each unit within 15 days . If resubmission is required , the tutor will detail how .

• All submitted work will be assessed by Somerset College and is subject to moderation . Once this process has been completed , the learner will then be sent their certificate ( s ), which will arrive within 12 weeks .
• If a learner commits to undertake a course but does not see it through to completion , Somerset College will charge a £ 120 noncompletion fee to the learner .
