BEST PROVIDERS OF SPECIALIST CARE

SMART FACILITY OF THE YEAR IN THE ASIA-PACIFIC

MWH MEDICAL
For the second successive year , Singapore ’ s MWH Medical is the recipient of the Global Health Asia-Pacific award for Smart Facility of the Year , which recognises the importance of integrated systems , processes , technologies , and personnel to enhance healthcare management .
Operating across two locations in the country , MWH offers three integrated practices , including the MWH Medical Specialists Centre , which is a one-stop multidisciplinary specialist centre for busy individuals and medical travellers . It offers a complete range of specialities from cardiology , ear , nose and throat , and gastroenterology to renal medicine , urology , vascular surgery , and aesthetics .
The focus of this centre is on integrating recent advances in medicine and the latest technology for early prevention , diagnosis , and treatment .
The need for integration has been highlighted this year by the coronavirus pandemic , which has affected the delivery of healthcare services , especially to foreign patients seeking medical treatment in Singapore .
With its state-of-the-art facilities and diagnostic equipment at its Royal Square at Novena centre , MWH has been able to digitise the provision of its healthcare services , reducing the need for foreign patients to leave their country .
“ Our doctors and patients are able to access their medical information remotely via the MWH app , and patients are able to participate in a tele-collaboration with medical experts from around the world together with their

consulting doctor ,” said a spokesperson for MWH .
In addition to the Specialists Centre , MWH operates the MWH Heart , Stroke and Cancer Centre , which brings together the latest advances in medicine to offer a one-stop specialist medical practice with leading experts in the prevention , early diagnosis , and treatment of Singapore ’ s three main causes of death .
Meanwhile , the MWH Centre for Medical Imaging supports a full range of diagnostics comprising ultrasounds , x-rays , treadmills , bone mineral densitometry , mammograms , and CT scanning .
The centre calls on the latest dualsource CT scanner , with x-ray voltage set identically between each tube to achieve fast and efficient imaging of patients . The equipment enables the scanning of patients without them needing to hold their breath , which can often be difficult in paediatrics patients , and offers the ability to scan obese patients even at low radiation doses .
MWH can lay claim to being a pioneer centre in producing photorealistic 3D imaging , which aids doctors in explaining their diagnosis to patients and planning for surgery . Home to the first artificial intelligence-powered 3T MRI scanner in Asia , MWH is also able to provide precision imaging with high diagnostic reliability . This in turn allows for more accurate and prompt diagnoses .
This is possible since the centre is the first in the region to be a Siemens Asia Reference Centre , by virtue of which it houses the latest diagnostic imaging equipment that the global diagnostics technology provider has to offer .
MWH also uses an integrated digital platform across its services , which has significantly improved productivity by eliminating manual order forms and duplication . This also reduces human error and provides a seamless process for staff to track patient orders and results .
“ MWH aims to continuously revolutionise the whole patient experience through our patient-centric , digital approach , whereby seamless integration and digitation of the medical records and images allow patients and their caregivers to access their health records at their fingertips ,” said the spokesperson . “ It also hopes to leverage integrated A . I . systems to bring its ‘ One Day , One Stop , One Centre ’ promise to patients .”
