Global Grassroots is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization founded in 2004 that supports conscious social change, driven by and for vulnerable women at the grassroots level worldwide.

Our core program, called the Academy for Conscious Change, is an 18-month incubator offering social venture development skills, leadership training, seed grants, and high-engagement support to help disadvantaged women initiate their own grassroots-level non-profit organizations to solve issues facing women and girls in their communities.

We call this intersection of

personal and societal transformation

Conscious Social Change.

We embrace the potential of every person to become an agent of change, and we invite you to join us in creating a just, compassionate and conscious society worldwide.

Global Grassroots' goal is to create communities of conscious change agents who will work independently, collectively, and systemically to advance social change for vulnerable women and girls. Our work is guided by four core values:

1. Deepening personal consciousness and contributing towards the common good are both essential to social change.

The experience of making a unique contribution to a greater whole is deeply meaningful, especially in the wake of trauma from war, disaster, genocide and sexual violence. In turn, when a change agent chooses to deepen her self-awareness, she has a greater likelihood of making mindful decisions in advancing social change.

2. One of the most effective levers of social change is a woman with the capability, resources, power, courage, and inner commitment to initiate positive change for herself and others.

As the primary caretakers of their families and communities, women naturally have the greatest insight into the critical issues facing society. Yet they have the least access to the financial resources, education, skills training, and other support needed to advance their plans for social change. Global Grassroots addresses these needs, helping women to drive innovative change.

3. Sustaining and accelerating conscious social change requires investment in supportive civil society architecture.

In seeking to support societal transformation and conscious leadership, there are certain systems, tools and support structures that can help catalyze and accelerate this process.

4. Mind-body trauma healing, combined with the opportunity to create community-based organizations to advance social change, represents the most effective and holistic approach toward individual and community healing .

Survivors demonstrate that they are of value to their communities, and have the capacity to address the failures of society which once put them at risk . This simultaneously fosters individual growth, community healing, and post-conflict reconstruction.
