AS WE CELEBRATE 30 YEARS OF
GLOBAL CUSTODIAN MAGAZINE,
THE TEAM LOOKS BACK ON
SOME OF THE BEST AND MOST
CONTROVERSIAL COVERS IN THE
PUBLICATION’S HISTORY.
This issue:
Fall 2011
T
hirty years of publishing four to five
times per annum puts the total num-
ber of Global Custodian cover stories at
around 150 during its lifespan so far, and
yet it’s this one that stood out to me as
the most obscure. Looking back through
the archives, Global Custodian has had its
fair share of scantily dressed characters
gracing the covers, yet few have had the
lure of this moustache/combat helmet
look while being draped in a what may be
a national flag. Anyway, within the mag-
azine questions were being raised about
the viability of T2S and whether it will
increase operational risk in Europe, while
on the prime brokerage and securities
lending side the team was still addressing
the fallout of the financial crisis. There
were also interviews with Neil Daswani
of Standard Chartered who has now been
with the company almost as long as Glob-
al Custodian has been in existence, and
Nadine Chakar who has just recently left
BNY Mellon after 30 years to join custody
rivals State Street.
