CRYSTAL CLEAR
Global Custodian’s Leaders in Custody awards honour top
performers from our agent banks surveys, along with the
innovators, teams and individuals who stood out from the
crowd over the past 12 months.
Global Custodian celebrated its landmark 30th Anniversary at the annual
Leaders in Custody awards in London, with BNP Paribas, Deutsche Bank
and SIX Exchange Services among those that scooped multiple honours.
Both BNP Paribas Securities Services and Deutsche Bank won four
apiece, including two Global Excellence Awards for their performance
across Global Custodian’s major markets and emerging markets surveys.
Nordea, Mizuho Bank and Standard Chartered also took home at least
two awards each from the night, as a packed-out room celebrated the
achievements of the securities services industry over the past 12 months.
Global Custodian also handed out a commemorative set of continued
excellence awards to those banks that had consistently outperformed
across our surveys, combining both relationship management and
client service. BNP Paribas won two of these awards for their consistent
performance in Western and Southern Europe.
The Editors’ Choice awards saw State Street take home the Asset
Servicing Deal of the Year prize for their $1.3 trillion mandate with
Vanguard, and SIX won Best Innovation in Market Infrastructure for the
launch of its digital asset exchange and custody service. The first Best
Securities Services Technology Provider award was also handed out, with
SimCorp taking home the prize.
Northern Trust’s Penelope Biggs, chief strategy officer for the corporate
and institutional services business, was presented the coveted lifetime
achievement award for her 35-year contribution to the securities services
industry.
The final award of the night was the Industry Person of the Year, which
Deutsche Bank’s Fiona Gallagher, global head of securities services, won
after a tightly-contested vote.
A list of all the winners and nominees can be found on the following
pages, and congratulations to all those involved.
