In the months since the event, SBCS has been hard at work
putting this significant donation to good use. Programs receiving
funding include Mi Escuelita, a one-of-a-kind therapeutic
preschool designed to meet the needs of children affected
by domestic violence, encourage healing and set them up for
a lifetime of academic success. With nearly half of students
in foster care, the holistic Mi Escuelita program incorporates
families as well, supporting both the child and caregivers to help
with behavior challenges and learning opportunities in and away
from the classroom.
“Our community partnerships are crucial to help us continue to
provide services our children need to grow, learn and prosper,”
SBCS CEO Kathryn Lembo said. “Together, we are giving our
young people the support, tools and guidance they need to
build stronger healthier futures.”
Other programs supported by the Big 24-Hour Giveback
include Trolley Trestle foster youth transitional housing,
emergency shelter options and domestic violence counseling.
SCG is proud to partner with and support the vital services
SBCS provides to the community.
