Landscape SARA BENDRICK From Forewoman to Landscape Maven W ith a creative mind and can-do attitude, Sara Bendrick was always destined for success. The business owner of Sarita Landscape Design and T.V. host with hit shows including “I Hate My Yard”, “Build it like Bendrick”, and “Lawn & Order”, on DIY Network, has paired her passions of art and horticulture to build a flourishing career. In addition to her interest in art and the outdoors, she has been inspired by her favorite landscape architect, Steve Martino. When working on a project, she gathers inspiration by visiting the site and reimagining how to make changes that could most benefit those using the space for incredible, personalized results. While she has achieved many of her goals and earned a reputation as an exceptionally skilled designer, Sara has worked hard to get here, from working as a forewoman doing maintenance to doing pro-bono work. She offers the following advice to others who want to pursue their dreams, “It is essential to stick to your niche, put in the time, and consistently engage in opportunities.” Sara firmly believes that her experiences have been fundamental to her success. In addition to helping homeowners transform their landscapes, the native San Diegan also prioritizes giving back locally. Sara has volunteered with Olivewood Gardens, participates in the Annual Women’s Symposium at her high school, The Academy of Our Lady of Peace, and often donates consultations for fundraisers at elementary schools. Through kindness and creativity, she is a truly impactful member of our community. www.sarabendrick.com 48 GBSAN.COM | JUNE 2018
