Salud OUTDOOR K SAN DIEGO B Y ANGELI CA GAVALDON cannot wait to walk Cedar Creek Falls. While it is an hour drive northwest from San Diego, it has spectacular views and the best waterfall hikes in the region. ids are out of school and it is always a challenge for most moms to keep their kids busy. I struggle because my son Noah is not into team sports and is not thrilled about the idea of being dropped off for hours at a summer camp. I would also rather have him with me as much as possible to spend more quality time together. My step-kids also spend a large part of the summer with us. Having three active boys, I make sure they get plenty of exercise without them noticing! Yoga Here is a list of activities and sports that I do with the kids to keep them, and myself, healthy and active during summer. I am not a big yoga enthusiast as I look at it more as a stretching class than actual exercise. However, this year I am enrolling Noah in a class with me. This is a great activity you can do with your kids and, fortunately, there are plenty of classes in San Diego that you and your kids can enjoy. Take advantage of the weather and enroll in a class outside in the park or beach. There are so many options and it is fun to see each other learn something new. Hiking Cycling There are so many beautiful places in San Diego to go hiking. One of our favorites is Torrey Pines State Natural Reserve which has different trails you can walk. Here you can explore nature with a beautiful beach view and pine trees. We especially like to do the beach trail where you end it walking on the beach. It’s a great way to connect with family; exercising together 8 GBSAN.COM | JULY 2018 and breathing fresh air. I also encourage my son to jog with me on the beach for a few minutes and play tag after our hike. We also like the Balboa Park Trails with five different trails you can hike. We This is one of our favorite activities. Living in Coronado, we enjoy riding our bikes all over the island. Afterwards, my husband treats the boys to ice cream at Hotel del Coronado. All of these activities are a great way to spend time together, make memories, and remain active. Just remember to always wear sunblock and drink plenty of water.
