C
alifornia Coast Credit Union’s story began in 1929
with a singular vision: to make a difference in the
communities they serve. Cal Coast goes beyond
providing financial solutions – helping to improve the
lives of others is at the heart of everything they do.
Building on the legacy of its founding educators, Cal Coast created
the Cal Coast Cares Foundation in 2015 as a non-profit 501 (c)(3).
Each year, the Cal Coast Cares Foundation proudly awards more
than $60,000 in grants to teachers and scholarships to deserving
college students and graduating high school seniors, including
foster students. The scholarship award program recognizes
outstanding students for their dedication to academic excellence
and community leadership. This effort would not be possible
without generous donors from throughout the community who
support the mission to transform lives by providing educational
opportunities for all.

The foundation holds two signature events each year to raise funds
and help more students and teachers – the Illuminate Pathways
reception and an annual Charity Golf Tournament. The Cal Coast
Cares Foundation Charity Golf Event, presented by Wawanesa
Insurance, will be held on Friday, August 17, 2018, at Maderas Golf
Club in Poway. This exciting event will feature a fun day on the links
followed by food, entertainment and great silent auction items.
The Illuminate Pathways reception will take place in October at
National University’s beautiful Torrey Pines Campus, where guests
will be inspired by personal stories from recent scholarship and
grant recipients and treated to exciting cuisine and fun local
entertainment. Illuminate Pathways sponsors include National
University and San Diego Gas & Electric. For more information on
the foundation and these signature events, including tickets and
