The San Diego Opera Lover’s Ball
O
n Saturday, February 23, 2019 join the San Diego Opera to celebrate
love in all of its many forms at the “San Diego Opera Lover’s
Ball,” chaired by Sarah Brenda Marsh-Rebello, and led by a host
committee consisting of Veronica Leff, Diana Lombrozo, Andrea
Puente-Catán, Doreen Schonbrun, Linda Spuck and Maria Stanley.
This elegant and romantic affair, inspired by the artwork of Spanish artists Miró and
Picasso, will honor the longtime contributions to the community by Lee and Frank
Goldberg.
Lee and Frank Goldberg’s support of San Diego Opera began many years ago
and together they have enjoyed performances including Renee Fleming, Luciano
Pavarotti, Plácido Domingo, Joan Sutherland, Richard Bonynge, Beverly Sills and
Richard Leech. Lee became President of the San Diego Opera Board of Directors in
1992. The Goldbergs, as Producer’s Circle members, have generously underwritten
seven main stage productions since 1994 and have chaired events, special parties
and underwritten artists. In 2017, Lee Goldberg became a Life Director of the
Company, the sixth Life Director honor that San Diego Opera has bestowed in its
fifty three year history.
Lee and Frank also give generously to the San Diego community and support
Seacrest Village, UCSD Moores Cancer Center, UCSD, the San Diego State
University and Words Alive, to mention a few. Married for sixty six years, they have
three children and six grandchildren. “Lee and Frank Goldberg’s passionate support
of San Diego Opera has been instrumental to our success since the 1980s. We
continue to reap the benefits of Lee’s excellent leadership as past President and
current Life Director,” San Diego Opera’s General Director, David Bennett shared
