She has served in ashore, afloat, and forward deployed units with the Navy, Marines, and Coast Guard for the past 21 years. She is currently based in Washington, DC and serves as the Religious Program Director for Naval District Washington. Chaplain Malana recently served as the Military Ceremonial Chaplain for the State Funeral of President George H. W. Bush. An ordained minister with the General Council of the Assemblies of God, she is an alumna of the U.S. Naval War College, Marine Corps University, the National Graduate School, Bethel Theological Seminary, and the University of California, Los Angeles. She is currently a PhD candidate at Salve Regina University where her area of research is technology, warfare, and humanity.
