more relaxed and there is more of a life
balance.
I get inspired by many things, colours,
stones, butterflies - I’ve even made sequins
inspired by insect designs.
How do you stay motivated?
It’s sometimes hard to stay focused in
creating your own company for hair
accessories because people tell me it’s not
a practical profession, that it’s difficult to
make a living, but you have to go with your
gut. Sometimes you just have to focus on
what makes you happy.
I was selling my products on television
shopping and this discouraged me a lot
because I wasn’t able to use my creativity,
I was working for someone else and always
had them telling me to change my ideas
to suit the current clients. I remember my
father saying not to mix art with commerce,
but I believe you have to create a balance.
My mother also gives me motivation. She
has always been very creative and recently
has been very supportive of my new
product selection.
What have you learned from
being a Girl Gone International ?
I often say I’m a girl who flies by the seat
of her pants. I’ve always been r
