Kafanas and Rakija
For a taste of a traditional evening out in Serbia, kafanas
are cafes that will feed you the greasy deliciousness that
is traditional Serbian food, make you woozy with endless
amounts of rakija – Serbia’s sassy and beloved brandy
made for sipping whenever, wherever – and show you the
playful and sometimes rowdy side of Serbian culture. The
oldest Kafana in the city is called ‘?’ - yes, you read that
right. Ask any Serb why it’s called ‘?’ and reap the benefits
of another Serbian favorite pastime, storytelling.
