My Maiden Solo Trip
My first solo trip in June 2013 was
short and unambitious – a mere
weeklong trip to nearby Taiwan. I
chose a budget hotel over a hostel and joined a short tour to the
countryside for a section of my
trip. Despite playing it safe, my
maiden solo trip felt like an important epoch in my life.
Heightened Intensity
Released from worrying about
the needs and desires of a travel
partner, I felt a great sense of
freedom. All my senses became
enhanced. I scoffed inordinate
amounts of beef noodle soup. I
overindulged, unashamedly and
repeatedly on meat dumplings
and an endless array of Taiwanese street eats and desserts.
