The Greener Way to T ravel Whether a cargo ship has 1 or 101 passengers onboard, it will still sail and use just as much fuel, making your journey almost completely ‘carbon neutral’. Length of Voyage The average length of voyage with freighter travel is between 40 and 50 days. With that said there are shorter trips that last a couple of weeks and longer voyages that last between 80 and 100 days. If time is not a factor for your adventure you can also travel by tramps which are cargo ships with no fixed schedule, going where they are needed.
