People
travelling or living abroad
often find themselves faced with even
more opportunities to indulge in sugar.
All those new foods to sample and enjoy, the excess alcohol consumption as
a result of making more of an effort to
go out and socialise.
Convenience eating and seeking out
comfort in the form of sweet treats from
home are all potentially hazardous
sugar zones for the Girl Gone International.
Why is sugar such a problem?
Refined sugar has no nutritional
value and besides weight gain,
excess sugar has also been
linked to diabetes, hypertension,
high blood pressure, depression,
fatigue, acne and hypoglycemia.
It’s quite a list. On top of all that,
brain scans have revealed that
sugar could be as addictive as
cocaine!
So could you give it up?
We were curious to know how a
self- confessed chocolate and
dessert lover would survive a
month off sugar so we asked Girl
Gone International Lorna Wilson
to keep a diary of her 4 weeks
without sugar.
