and throughout Europe . This formed my desire to live abroad , seek out other cultures , and expand my horizons .
Dance captured my heart from the age of three . I loved to move , to express myself to music and be challenged by something that demanded everything from me . Combined , I always dreamed of living and dancing abroad . To date , I ’ ve travelled through 52 countries , as well as lived in eight cities , five countries and on three continents . I have lived in major dance centers like New York and London , been a part of cutting-edge work in Brussels , explored Sydney at its artistic infancy , and am currently living in the capital of the art world – Berlin .
‘ Living abroad and making art are the same in that neither are about playing it safe .’ countries has made me extremely adaptable , taught me to relate to all kinds of people and honed my instincts . This crosses over in that I have learned to build solid relationships by bringing fresh energy to the artistic scene in a new city , as well as trust my own abilities and contributions as an artist .
Likewise , my mentality as an artist has taught me to persevere against all odds , to manage severe learning curves , and to constantly reframe my situation .
This has helped me to find my feet while living totally outside of my comfort zone in a new country , and stretch my understanding of what ’ s possible .
Being abroad has also shaped my dancing by giving me such rich experiences to tap into as both a performer and a creator . Life experience is dance experience , and it comes through every time I step onto a stage .
My exposure to so many different styles and influences all over the world has shaped both my ideas and my physical approach to dance . This makes me more knowledgeable as an artist , more innovative as a creator , and more versatile as a dancer . In short , a more well-rounded artist .
