MESSAGE FROM THE LIEUTENANT GOVERNOR OF MANITOBA
The sheer majestic beauty of Manitoba’s Interlake region is an
inspirational feast for the eyes, the heart and the artistic spirit.
Naturally, it provides a memorable backdrop for the annual Gimli
Film Festival, a wonderful celebration of the magic of cinema, and
a showcase for the warm hospitality of the community that is so
proud to serve as its host.
Entertaining and thought provoking, this much-anticipated Festival
continues to grow and thrive, thanks to an appreciative public
and the shared dedication of its founder, board of directors and
volunteer contingent. This year’s event will be particularly timely
as it shines a deserving spotlight on the talents, and incredible
potential, of women filmmakers. The Future is Female film series
will, no doubt, remind audiences that women are increasingly
making their marks in leadership roles in the film industry and
giving voice to stories that enrich us all.
As long-time Gimli cottage owners, my family and I have had a
front row seat to watch this extraordinary film festival take root and
blossom over the years, evolving into the must-see event it is today.
We are grateful for that opportunity and hope you enjoy your time
in the community we hold so dear.
As Queen Elizabeth’s representative in Manitoba, I extend
congratulations to everyone associated with the Gimli Film Festival
for your outstanding work in encouraging film excellence and arts
