The #MeToo and #TimesUp movements have proven beyond a shadow of a doubt that the film industry has been inhospitable to women and that we are not prepared to accept the status quo. A new era is dawning, but it’s a new day that we should take an active role in shaping. Let’s talk about what we want the industry of tomorrow to look like and revel in the advantages these changes will bring – for women, the industry and society as a whole. Join us for a truly optimistic discussion about the female-centric future of film and for the Manitoba launch of the MediaPLUS+ toolkit. Moderated by Jill Golick, Executive Director, Women in View. Panelists include: • Ellen Vanstone (Toronto-based writer) • Ása Hjörleifsdóttir (Icelandic director of The Swan) • Elise Swerhone (MB-based filmmaker and NSI rep) • Rebecca Gibson (MB-based actor, writer, producer, director).
