This year in school , I started middle school , as I ’ m sure a lot of you did . Although some of you may be younger than me , here ’ s some insight on what to be prepared for . On the days leading up to the first day of school , I started to get more and more nervous . As I read the book Hatchet by Gary Paulsen for summer reading ( great book , by the way ), I wondered about the first day of school . What will it be like ? Will I make friends with the new kids ? All of these questions filled my mind as the day approached .
Finally , the first day of school arrived . I found out I was worried for nothing . The teachers had done this before . They knew how to ease us into the big workload slowly . In fact , my first day of school was kind of fun .
Now that I ’ ve settled into my school routine , my schedule has also filled up . I ’ m taking Spanish , Choir , and Public Speaking through my school . Outside of school , I was also in the play the Wizard of Oz put on by the City of Gilroy and I take violin from Suzanne Lambert . Let ’ s just say : I ’ m busy !
With the small bit of free time I have had , I enjoyed getting ready for Halloween ( I went as Katniss from the Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins ), prepping for the holidays , and hanging out by the fireplace with a good book . I also somehow made time to clean out my closet and dresser . It feels really good being able to give away so many clothes . It gets me in the holiday spirit !
Can you believe that Christmas is just around the corner ? I sure can ’ t ! I ’ m so happy that I get to spend it here in Gilroy with so many fun holiday activities such as the Christmas tree lighting , Breakfast with Santa , and viewing all of the beautiful Christmas lights decorating the houses . But with the cold weather also comes the break from the Gilroy Farmers ’ Market . Too bad . I absolutely love the music , cool vendors , and delicious food . I wish I had gone more when I had the chance . At least it will come back again in the spring .
As the season changes , I can ’ t wait for Christmas , Thanksgiving , and the New Year , which I ’ m sure will be filled with lots of fun opportunities and changes .
I would love to see some of your artwork , ideas , and stories . E-mail us with your name , age , if possible a photo , and your artwork , idea , or that you want to be interviewed .
