As far as the concept of fusion , we want to help people see that art is more than a painting on the wall behind your couch . We want both 2D and 3D artists in a multitude of genres : abstract , realistic , fantasy , modern , etc . And in a variety of media : photography , painting digital , ceramics , glass , metal , and so on . It ’ s a fusion of artistic expression .
The group targets professional and emerging artists , including college students pursuing a career in art who want to learn from one another and share artistic inspiration as well as promote their individual art careers , rather than hobbyists . They also seek business members who are interested in supporting the arts and receiving publicity on the NCAF website and other advertising channels .
Hosting the Art Wall Gallery With the lack of stationary galleries in the South County at this time , the group designed a unique pop-up gallery concept- The Art Wall - that will be available to businesses and nonprofit organizations to host for just a few days , all the way up to sixty - all free of charge ( in most cases ).
Marianne wants to bring art into wineries , restaurants , galas , fashion shows , open houses , private parties , fundraisers - wherever art might enhance an event or venue in Gilroy and in the surrounding communities . The artists will be juried NCAF members and businesses will be able to choose the artists they wish to host . There will be other perks offered to both artists and businesses as well including commission on sales of art .
The NCAF began in early spring 2014 and the Art Wall made its premier appearance at Station 55 on Fifth Street in Gilroy . Marianne approached Charles Davis , the owner , and he was excited with the innovative idea and became the first Art Wall host . At the current time , there are other venues requesting time slots . As more artists join the group , the NCAF will have art available for many more venues to host on a regular basis .
If you are a local professional or emerging artist and would like to apply for membership to the NCAF , or a business or organization who would like more information , please visit the NCAF website at NCAF . net or contact Marianne Eichenbaum at mailto : marieich47 @ gmail . com .
Marianne believes that Gilroy is on the verge of something great . She and her group are excited to be a part of what ’ s coming next .
“ We hope to see this become known as the way to see art in the South County . It is truly a win-win for everyone . The public can see and purchase fine , affordable art at any time of the day . Local businesses are able to offer interesting art to their patrons . And artists have a way to show their work on a regular basis .”
